Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police went to McKay’s home on December 3 and found 12 cannabis plants growing in a tent.

When interviewed McKay said she used cannabis and her mother also used the drug to help alleviate symptoms after a stroke. She decided to grow her own because she had been paying dealers up to £200 a month.
