A young mother of two failed to tell the authorities that her circumstances had changed.
As a result Katie Allen, 24, of Kingsmede, Blackpool, was overpaid £3,895 in benefits, a court was told.
Allen admitted two offences of failing to telling Blackpool Council about her increased hours of work and having a second child, the town’s magistrates heard.
This would have affected her housing and council tax benefit payments.
Steven Duffy, defending, said that the money was now being paid back to the council by Allen who had not understood many of the forms sent to her.
Katie Allen was fined £150 and ordered to pay £60 costs and £15 victims surcharge.
