Motorist 'deliberately drove at on-duty paramedic crossing the road'

A paramedic was forced to scramble to safety after being deliberately driven at by a motorist in Blackpool, emergency services said.

The medic was on-duty and crossing Bournemouth Road in South Shore when they were targeted by a silver Toyota 4x4.

They 'managed to move out of the way', police said, but hurt their ankle doing so.

A manhunt was launched for the driver, who was described as a white man aged around 60.

A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman declined to comment further, but confirmed an investigation was underway.

Lancashire Police appealed for witnesses on Saturday, saying the incident happened a week earlier at 9.10pm.
