Eva Dormidontova, 33, of Church Road, St Annes, was found guilty of permitting the use of a motor vehicle without insurance after a trial in her absence.

She was disqualified from driving for six months under the penalty points totting-up procedure and fined £165 with £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Magistrates were told that on March 16 police caught the defendant’s partner driving her Ford Focus on St Andrew’s Road South, St Annes, without insurance.

Dormidontova, who already had six motoring penalty points on her licence, said she and her partner had a row and he took the car without her knowing.

When police came round she signed a document saying she had given him permission because her son was extremely upset at having a police officer in the house and she did not want her partner to get arrested.
