A BLACKPOOL woman has admitted child neglect, Deborah Hanson went to sleep leaving a five-year-old boy stuck in the garden and a one-year-old alone in a conservatory, Blackpool magistrates heard.

The 40-year-old, of Vicarage Road, Marton, appeared in the dock on Friday but sentence was adjourned until reports are done on her by the Probation Service.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said one of Hanson’s neighbours saw the five-year-old shouting to be let in.

He banged on a window and shouted he was cold and needed to use the toilet. She also saw the one-year-old in the conservatory.

The neighbour called police and an officer heard the younger child crying in the conservatory.

The officer knocked at the front door after being told Hanson was inside.

But it took the PC banging on the window to wake her.

She immediately went to the aid of the two children.

Gerry Coyle, defending, said his client had not touched alcohol but suffered drowsiness because of medication. He said: “The children were left with the defendant by surprise. She had fed them, watched TV with them and played with them before she fell asleep.”
