More time to quiz attempted murder suspect

Police have been given more time to question a man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 62-year-old was arrested yesterday after a 45-year-old woman was stabbed in the stomach at an home in Hatfield Avenue, Fleetwood.

The woman was taken to Royal Preston Hospital in a ‘poorly’ condition.

A garden area at the rear of the flats was taped off and officers remained at the scene overnight.

The man was questioned by officers today and police have been granted permission to detain him for a further six hours.

Neighbours said the flats where the woman was stabbed were mainly occupied by elderly residents.
