A man chased his wife around their home physically abusing her after they argued about money.

Trevor Wallace punched his wife on the arm, put her in a headlock until she could not breathe and felt dizzy, then caused her to hit a door handle when he grabbed her again.

He is absolutely devastated by what he has done

Wallace, 35, of Spencer Court, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to an offence of assault.

He was sentenced to a six months community order with up to 10 days supervised by the probation service and ordered to pay £85 costs plus £85 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Brett Chappell, defending, told magistrates: “He admitted matters straightaway in police interview. He is absolutely devastated by what he has done. He suffers from depression and anxiety.”
