A sex offender is missing in Blackpool.
Jeffrey Alan Mole, 79, was last seen at the Blackpool Probation offices on Talbot Road on November 27 and is still thought to be in the town.
He is believed to frequent cafes in the town centre and could also be homeless and attending soup kitchens in the resort.
Mole is a registered sex offender who was convicted at Preston Crown Court in June 2012 of a sexual assault on a child.
He was sentenced to a community order, made subject of the sex offenders register until 2017 and made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order (SOPO).
He was released from HMP Preston on November 21 after he was recalled to prison for a previous breach of the SOPO, but has failed to provide his details and is now wanted for a breach of the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
Mole is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, medium build with collar length greying black hair.
He usually wears a black trilby hat and black jacket.
Det Sgt Paul Stables, of Lancashire Police’s Public Protection Unit, said: “Mole is a registered sex offender who has failed to notify the authorities of his whereabouts.
“I would appeal for anyone who has seen him or knows of his whereabouts to get in touch with the police.
“Sex offenders are managed in the community by police and partners, a system which aims to prevent them committing further offences, but if they do not comply with the obligations of their licence or notification requirements, then we will take positive action to locate them, as we are doing in this case.”
