Missing man's body found near golf course in Lytham

A man's body has been found in a brook near a golf course in Lytham.

Police say the body is believed to belong to Geoffrey Martin Bradshaw, 76, from Lytham, who had been reported missing over the weekend.

His body was discovered by a police officer at around 6.25pm yesterday (Sunday, August 16) in Liggard Brook, just off Ballam Road, at the back of Lytham Green Drive Golf Club.

Officers said his death is not believed to be suspicious. His family have been informed.

A police spokesman said: "Officers searching for missing Geoffrey Martin Bradshaw, 76, sadly found a body in a brook in Lytham last night.

"At around 6.25pm yesterday evening (Sunday, August 16), a police officer making enquires into the whereabouts of Geoffrey Martin Bradshaw, known to his friends as Martin, discovered a man deceased in in the town.

"Whilst he has yet to be formally identified, the man is believed to be Mr Bradshaw.

"His death is not believed to be suspicious and his family have been notified. A file will be passed to HM Coroner.

"Our thoughts are with Mr Bradshaw’s loved ones."

Police had issued a missing person's appeal for Geoffrey Martin Bradshaw on Friday (August 14), after the 76-year-old disappeared from his home.
