Two Blackpool men accused of being involved in a robbery in which four bottles of beer were stolen after a shop assistant was threatened with a meat cleaver have made their first appearance at court.

Matthew Bradley, 22, of Kensington Road, and Thomas Cadden, 21, of Victory Road, are charged with robbery of alcohol valued at £11.36 from a shop on Whitegate Drive, Blackpool, on May 26.

Bradley is also charged with possessing a meat cleaver as an offensive weapon.

Prosecutor, Chrissie Hunt, asked for the case to be heard at crown court and opposed bail for both men.

The defendants were remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on June 18 by Blackpool magistrates.
