A former matchday announcer at Blackpool Football Club has been handed a suspended jail term.

Anthony Parr, 49, (pictured during his time at the club) admitted head-butting a man when he appeared before Blackpool magistrates.

Decorator Parr, of Phillip Street, Blackpool, admitted assaulting his victim on October 19.

Parr was given a 12-week jail term, suspended for 12 months for the crime which is not linked to his former role at Bloomfield Road.

He was also placed on supervision for 12 months and must do 120 hours unpaid work for the community.

Parr resigned his post at the football club after he was charged.
