On another occasion he got into her car, struck her in the face and gripped hold of her throat.

Hamasalh, a bar worker, aged 37, of Kensington Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to two offences of assault.

Prosecutor, Chrissie Hunt, said the couple met when they worked at the same bar in Blackpool. The girlfriend was aware he was married but Hamasalh told her he and his wife were separated.

In November she told him their relationship was over. In texts he said he was going to smash her face in and intimate photographs of her would be distributed.

Martin Hillson, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, had had a turbulent relationship with the woman which was on and off.

Mr Hillson added: “As far as he is concerned their relationship is over.”

Hamasalh was bailed for pre-sentence reports by District Judge Roger Lowe sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
