A man was seen hurling an advertising board at the doors of Blackpool’s Ego Bar after he and his friends were ejected from the venue.

Mark Richards, 34, of Westminster Court, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour.

He was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £150 court charge plus £20 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said Richards was with a group of friends who were ejected from Ego Bar on April 25, after they took drinks from trays being carried round by staff and did not pay for them because they were free.

Outside Richards and others in the group were seen throwing signs at the club doors.

Richards said the door staff had been extremely rough with his group. He said items were being thrown at the club doors because two of their group had been trapped inside and the door staff were beating them up.
