Man 'slashed' during robbery at South Shore store

A man was taken to hospital suffering with knife wounds to his face after he was attacked during a robbery in South Shore, say police.

Ambulance and Police services were called on Monday to reports of four robberies and a knife attack at shops in the Highfield Road area.

During one of the robberies, a masked man is reported to have burst into the Tesco Express on the road making demands for money.

Police say bystanders then attempted to grapple with the man leaving one man with knife injuries to his face.

A spokesman for the police said: "We were called to reports of four robberies on Highfield Road.

"At one of the robberies, a member of the public tried to grapple with the offender which resulted in a slash to his face."

The man was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment.
