A MAN has made his first appearance at court accused of possessing an air-rifle while prohibited from having a firearm.

Blackpool Magistrates Court heard how Ronnie McLeod, 49, of Whinfield Road, Fleetwood, was also charged with assaulting a policeman.

The charges relate to an allegation he repeatedly banged a door on the male officer and another involving the illegal possession of amphetamine.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place at McLeod’s home on February 19.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court and opposed bail for McLeod.

McLeod was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on March 14 by Blackpool magistrates.

The incident relates to two incidents in Wyre where residents were evacuated by the bomb squad after suspicious items were found at addresses in Cleveleys and Fleetwood.
