A man stole a television from a supermarket by taking it out of a fire escape door.

A store worker tried to stop Stuart Hilton as he carried the 32-inch flatscreen out but he got into a waiting car which drove off.

Hilton, 40, of Bute Avenue, North Shore, pleaded guilty to theft and breaching a 12-month conditional discharge imposed for possessing class C drugs.

He was sentenced to 12 months supervision with nine months drug rehabilitation and ordered to pay £200 compensation by Blackpool magistrates.
