Man not guilty of sex offences

A man accused of offering two young boys money to perform a sex act has been cleared following a trial.

The jury at Preston’s Sessions house court returned a ‘not guilty’ verdict on both charges faced by Andrew Sherlock, of Salmesbury Avenue, Bispham.The 41-year-old maintained his innocence throughout, after being accused of two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.He was cleared by jurors seven months after his first court appearance in front of Blackpool magistrates in July last year, when he ‘categorically denied’ the accusations.During the trial, the court had heard the mother of one of the alleged victims reported her concerns to police following comments the boy had made to his older sister.The alleged incidents dated back to the summer of 2015 when the boys were playing on a field near to where they lived. The jury took two hours and 55 minutes to return verdicts of not guilty on both charges.Lancashire Police said it will take no further action in relation to the case.
