A MAN killed a family pet after kicking out a fish tank during a family argument.

At least one of the fish died when Michael Johnson smashed the tank in a fit of rage.

Blackpool Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday how Johnson, 24, had returned to a house in Blackpool with his girlfriend.

But when he got there they thought the girlfriend’s brother had been rummaging around in her bedroom.

Johnson lost his temper with the boy and hit him several times.

Then, as he left the property, he kicked out at the glass aquarium, smashing it.

At Blackpool Magistrates’ Court on Friday, Johnson, of The Sawmills, Blackpool, admitted criminal damage worth £200.

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a 14-year-old boy.

David Charnley, defending, said Johnson had a problem with anger.

He said: “My client accepts he had a problem with his temper and he is having anger management treatment.”

Johnson was bailed for pre-sentence reports.
