Man jailed for attempted burglary and theft found after absconding from HMP Kirkham

A 42-year-old man who was jailed for offences including attempted burglary and theft has been found after absconding from HMP Kirkham.

James Tweedy, 42, formerly of Newtown Close, Raffles, Carlisle, absconded from HMP Kirkham on Sunday, March 15.

Tweedy was jailed at Carlisle Crown Court in September 2019 for offences including attempted burglary and theft.

Police launched a public appeal to find Tweedy on March 16, but have confirmed he has been found today (March 17).

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We posted an appeal for help locating wanted James Tweedy, 42, from Carlisle.

"He has since been detained."
