A RUSSIAN man took his 11-year-old daughter and 17- year-old niece on a shoplifting spree in Blackpool.

Robert Marcinkevlis, 35, came to the resort from his home in Oldham.

He took the two children to the B & M Bargains store.

All three then started to take perfume, chewing gum and pairs of boxer shorts from the shelves

Prosecutor Angus Craigen told Blackpool Magistrates Court when he was arrested the Marcinkevlis had £60 on him.

The two youths were being dealt with in other ways, the court was told.

Steven Townley, defending, said his client had admitted shoplifting at the first opportunity.

District Judge Jeff Brailsford sent Marcinkevlis to jail for 10 weeks telling him: “As the adult you were in control of the children in this matter.”
