A man left his former girlfriend without enough money to pay for food and household bills when he raided the home in Blackpool they once shared together.

Imtiaz Patel sneaked into his ex’s address and took a bank card, cash and a watch.

Patel, 38, of London Road, Blackburn, denied burglary but was found guilty of the offence after a trial in his absence.

He was bailed for pre-sentence reports by Blackpool magistrates and will be sentenced at a later date.

Rachel Parker, prosecuting, said the incident happened on March 29 last year.

Patel was identified from CCTV at a cashpoint for where it is believed cash was withdrawn from the stolen card. He still had the house key from when he lived with his ex and he knew her pin number.
