A woman whose throat was cut when she was attacked in the street remains in hospital in a medically induced coma, a court has heard.
Richard Beattie, 65, today appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of his estranged wife following the incident on Warbreck Hill Road.
Beattie, who is originally from Scotland but currently lives on Miller Street in the resort, is accused of cutting her throat on Monday.
The court heard his victim, a 66-year-old woman, remains in Blackpool Victoria Hospital in a medically induced coma and has been unable to speak since the incident, which took place at around 10.30am.
Beattie was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on January 2.
