A MAN took a knife off a woman because he thought she might harm herself with it.

Kevin Vickers was then said to be unable to throw the knife away before meeting a police officer and he confessed he had the weapon in his waistband.

Vickers, 26, of Shaftesbury Avenue, North Shore, admitted possessing a blade in St Mary Close.

He was bailed to February 19 for pre-sentence reports with all options including custody to be considered by Blackpool magistrates.

Stephen Duffy, defending, said Vickers went to visit a former partner on January 13.

There was a row and she got a kitchen knife.

Vickers thought she might harm herself so he took the knife off her.

He left, intending to throw the knife away into nearby fields, but did not because of the thought of children playing there. A policeman then approached him and he told the officer about the knife.
