A man trying to wean himself off street heroin bought black market methadone as a substitute.

Barry Taylor, 39, of Yew Tree Road, Grange Park, pleaded guilty to possessing class A drugs.
He was sentenced to six months supervision by Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Steven Townley, defending, said his client had been told it could take several months before he was eligible for a methadone prescription, so he decided to self-medicate.
