He was given a 12 months’ conditional discharge and ordered to pay £250 compensation by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said a couple had gone to their camper van on Egerton Road to collect some property when Northwood banged on the vehicle on November 22 about 2am.

He asked them to call him a taxi, which they started to do.

Northwood then began damaging the van. When questioned by police he said he remembered panicking and falling against the van.
