A man’s forgetfulness in failing to report to the police led to him being arrested and kept in a cell for almost 24 hours.

Ryan Mann, 21, of Charles Street, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to breaching a condition of his bail. Blackpool magistrates agreed to rebail him.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Mann, who was due for trial on offences of assault and damage, had been bailed with the condition he reported to police on Mondays and Saturdays between noon and 1pm.

On July 28, last year, police arrested him after he failed to report in at the police station the day before.

Stephen Duffy, defending, told magistrates: “There is nothing sinister in this case.

“He simply forgot.

“He is not working and days tend to blend into each other.”
