Man charged over alleged cash robbery

A man has been charged as part of an investigation into an alleged robbery earlier this year.

Anthony Joy, 29, of Parish View, Salford, was arrested at an address in Salford on Wednesday night and was interviewed by detectives during the course of the day.

He has now been charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

He has been remanded to appear at Blackpool Magistrates Court and is due to appear this morning.

A 31-year-old woman arrested at the same time as Joy on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed by police pending further enquiries.

Police launched an investigation following an alleged cash in transit robbery in St Annes on September 16.

The incident is alleged happened at around 8.30am at the Sainsbury’s supermarket in the town centre.

Four other people have been charged in connection with the robbery and will stand trial on April 28 next year.
