Man charged following spate of robberies and rooftop stand-off

A man has been charged with four counts of robbery following a series of armed raids in Blackpool.

Luke Caddick, 25, of Lune Grove, Blackpool has been charged with four counts of robbery, two counts of attempted robbery, aggravated vehicle taking, burglary and dangerous driving. He was due to appear before Blackpool Magistrates this morning.

He was arrested on Monday following an hour-long rooftop drama in Caunce Street after six stores, including two branches of the same bookmakers, were targeted between Friday and Sunday evening.

Following the Caunce Street incident a BMW Z3 car was smashed through garage doors before being involved in a collision in Cookson Street.

The driver made off from the scene but was arrested shortly after in Milbourne Street.

A 16 year old from Blackpool who was also arrested in connection with the robberies has been bailed unil May pending further enquiries.
