Man charged after cyclist seriously injured in Fleetwood collision

A man has been charged after a cyclist suffered serious injuries to his arm and leg following a collision in Fleetwood.

Police were called to reports a cyclist and a car had collided at the junction of Heathfield Road and Lindel Road, close to the One Stop shop, on Sunday (August 2).

It was reported a man in his 20s had been riding his bike on the pavement when a Peugeot 206 car collided with him at around 1.35pm.

The cyclist suffered serious injuries to his arm and leg and was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment.

Gareth Baker, 24, of Harbour Way, Fleetwood, has now been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is due to appear before Blackpool Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, August 4).

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Detectives are continuing to appeal for information and are urging any witnesses or people with dash cam or CCTV footage of the incident to come forward immediately."
