A man who admitted theft was caught out when he aroused a store manager’s suspicions by asking for directions to a section of the store – and then walking off in the opposite direction.

Robert Snow, 23, of Derby Road, North Shore, pleaded guilty to theft and was bailed for sentence at a later date when he appeared before Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the incident happened on February 15, at 12.30pm.

The court was told how the manager of the resort’s Aldi supermarket became suspicious of Snow.

After the defendant left the store he was apprehended, and £35 of stolen DVDs were found in a carrier bag he was carrying.
