Man to appear in court over alleged knifepoint robberies in Blackpool

A 37-year-old man has been charged in connection with a series of robberies in South Shore, say police.

Gary Boyd, 37, of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of robbery, three counts of attempted robbery, S18 wounding with intent, possession of a knife/ blade/ sharp bladed article in a public place and possession of an imitation firearm.

Police had launched an appeal following four raids which took place within 20 minutes of each other in the Highfield Road area on Monday, May 7.

A member of the public suffered serious facial injuries during one of the robberies, said police.

Boyd is due to appear at Blackpool Magistrates' Court this morning, May 14.
