Man and woman in hospital with knife wounds after stabbing in Bispham

A man and a woman have been taken to hospital with knife wounds following a stabbing in Bispham this afternoon (May 6).

Police descended on the Rock Gardens at around 12pm after a man was seen with stab wounds to his neck.

At around the same time, officers received reports that a woman had been stabbed at a home in nearby Tyrone Avenue.

The stabbings led to a police manhunt in Rock Gardens as officers began searching the park for the injured man.

Officers soon found the man, aged in his 20s, and he has been taken to hospital for treatment where his condition is described as stable.

Police confirmed that a knife has been recovered from the Rock Gardens.

Officers investigating the stabbing in Tyrone Avenue found a woman, aged in her 40s, suffering from stab wounds to her arm.

She has also been taken to hospital, but her condition is not thought to be serious.

Lancashire Police said it believes the two stabbings are linked, but said it is not looking for anyone else in connection with the incidents.

The force said no arrests have been made at this stage.

Ambulance crews rushed to the scene after reports of the stabbing.

North West Ambulance Service said the man had been taken to Blackpool Victoria by ambulance, with a senior clinician onboard.

It described his injuries as serious.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at around 11.50am today (Wednesday, May 6) to reports of a stabbing at an address on Tyrone Avenue in Blackpool.

"We attended and found a woman aged in her 40s had suffered a stab wound to her arm.

"She has been taken to hospital for treatment, though her injuries are not thought to be serious.

"A short time later we were made aware a man in his 20s had been seen in the Rock Gardens on Devonshire Road with a stab wound to his neck.

"He has also been taken to hospital for treatment and is thought to be in a stable condition.

"The two incidents are being treated as linked.

"No arrests have been made as yet but we would like to reassure members of the public that we are not currently looking for anybody else in connection with the incidents.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and anybody with information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting log number 511 of May 6."
