A man hit his partner in the face after he had been out drinking Blackpool Magistrates heard.
Christopher McCourt, 38, had rowed with his partner in their home on Banbury Avenue, North Shore, in November last year.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, told the hearing McCourt had been out drinking and wanted to carry on but his partner wanted him to stay at home.
McCourt admitted assaulting the woman.
He was given an eight-week jail term, suspended for a year, and placed on 12 months’ court supervision.
Magistrate Barry Birch said: “What you did was disgraceful. It is not acceptable.”
The court heard that a witness to the blow saw the victim with blood on her face and rang the police.
When officers arrived McCourt quietened down.
Ashley Fisher, defending, said that the couple had re-united and his partner was in court to support McCourt.
