A man hit his partner in the face after he had been out drinking Blackpool Magistrates heard.

Christopher McCourt, 38, had rowed with his partner in their home on Banbury Avenue, North Shore, in November last year.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, told the hearing McCourt had been out drinking and wanted to carry on but his partner wanted him to stay at home.

McCourt admitted assaulting the woman.

He was given an eight-week jail term, suspended for a year, and placed on 12 months’ court supervision.
