A scaffolder accused of repeatedly stamping on a man’s head fracturing his jaw and eye-socket after finding him hiding under a bed at his home has made his first appearance at court.

Tom Fitzgerald, 19, of Southwood Avenue, Fleetwood, is charged with maliciously wounding the man with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

Fitzgerald is also accused of hitting another man with a bottle causing him actual bodily harm.

The wounding offence is alleged to have taken place in Fitzgerald’s former flat in Belmont Road, Fleetwood, on New Years’ Day.

Fitzgerald was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on September 12 by Blackpool magistrates.
