A man accused of inflicting a head wound on another man when he hit him with a golf club has made his first appearance in court.

John Jones, 23, of Jeffrey Square, Blackpool, is charged with maliciously wounding a man with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

He is also accused of burgling his victim’s home on Woolman Road, South Shore, assaulting a woman, damaging a window and possessing a golf club as an offensive weapon.

The offences are alleged to have taken place on April 19.

Jones was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on May 16 by Blackpool magistrates.
