A learner driver took a friend’s car without her permission.

Luke Taylor, 21, of Fishers Lane, South Shore, admitted taking a car without consent, driving it without insurance and not in accordance with his provisional licence.

He was sentenced to do 24 hours at an attendance centre, pay £85 costs with £60 victims’ surcharge and had six motoring penalty points put on his licence by Blackpool magistrates.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said the friend rang police and said Taylor had taken her Ford Ka without her permission on July 8.

Police stopped Taylor as he drove the vehicle on Cherry Tree Road.

He admitted using the car up to 15 times without his friend’s permission.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said Taylor had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity. Sometimes Taylor’s friend gave him permission to drive her car, the court heard.
