Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said on Sunday Jones’ 80-year-old grandmother, who had health issues, called police.

Jones had been staying with her since splitting up with his girlfriend and his gran had complained about his behaviour after he had been drinking.

She said Jones had returned home at 5pm clearly drunk.

He was shouting abuse and she was worried about the effect this would have on her neighbours and her tenancy.

When his nan confronted him about his behaviour he called her a “nag” and lunged at her.

His grandmother had said he was no longer welcome back at her home.

Jones told magistrates: “My nan had said if she could smell alcohol on my breath I could not come in. I had a couple of drinks and when I went back she smelt my breath. I was not intoxicated. I went straight to bed and the police woke me up.”
