Alan Milsom, 29, possession of a blade in public

A man threatened to stab someone with a butter knife in a Cleveleys bookmakers.

Alan Milsom made the threat after being told he would not be given a lift home and he would have to walk.

Milsom, 29, of The Promenade, Fleetwood, pleaded guilty to possessing a blade in public.

He was refused bail and remanded in custody for a pre-sentence report.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said Milsom went into William Hills bookmakers on Saturday at 6pm and said he could not get home as he had no money.

Staff contacted his mother and she said she could not help.

The police were then contacted and said they could not drive him back.

Milsom, who was described as having a gambling problem and being banned from bookmakers in Fleetwood, then said he had a knife and would stab someone, so staff rang 999.

When interviewed Milsom told police that he had been hearing voices in his head which said they would tell him who was going to stab him so he took to carrying the knife for self protection.

Allan Cobain, defending, told magistrates: “I have no doubt this was a cry for help. He did not produce the knife in the shop and he cooperated fully with police.”

Ryan Palmer, 25, assault

A man accused of repeatedly pushing his girlfriend and then punching her in the face on her birthday has made his first appearance at court.

Ryan Palmer is also alleged to have a punched a man in the face who tried to intervene and obstructing a woman police officer by running off when she tried to restrain him.

Palmer, a 25-year-old father-of-two, of The Mede, Freckleton, who works as a builder, pleaded not guilty to assaulting his girlfriend and the man.

The offences are alleged to have taken place near the resort’s Mecca bingo hall on Saturday.

Palmer was refused bail and remanded in custody to face trial at Preston.

Edward Bramhall, 26, criminal damage

A soldier caused thousands of pounds of damage to his wife’s new boyfriend’s car.

Edward Bramhall lost his temper after no-one would speak to him about concerns over a babysitter.

Bramhall, 26, of Coniston Crescent, Cleveleys, a Corporal with the Engineers Regiment, pleaded guilty to causing damage.

He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £2,061 compensation plus £20 victims’ surcharge.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said Bramhall arrived at a man’s home in Fleetwood on May 18, and started hammering and kicking on the door and shouting abuse through the letterbox.

Bramhall then caused £2,061 damage to the man’s VW Golf.

Stephen Duffy, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, was a soldier who been in the Army 10 years and signed on for 25 years.

He had served in Iraq, Cyprus and the USA. In March he returned from a peacekeeping role with the United Nations in Southern Sudan to be told by his wife of three years their marriage was over and she was having a relationship with another man.

On May 18, his elder son, who was seven, rang Bramhall about 10.30pm and told him they were being looked after by a 13-year-old niece.

Bramhall found out his wife was with her new partner in Fleetwood.

He went round because he wanted to say he believed it was too late at night for his sons to be being looked after by a 13-year-old, then lost his temper when no-one would answer the

door.

Keiron Williams, 21, threatening a woman with an offensive weapon and possessing an extendable metal baton

A man who was said to have been naked from the waist up and wielding an extendable baton above a woman who was unconscious on the the ground has been banned from entering Blackpool.

Kieron Williams, 21, who gave his address as Elm Drive, Crewe, is charged with threatening a woman with an offensive weapon and possessing an extendable metal baton as an offensive weapon.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in Dickson Road on Saturday.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, asked for the case to be heard at crown court.

Williams did not indicate a plea to the offences at that stage.

He was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on September 12.

Williams must live at his grandfather’s address in Crewe and not enter Blackpool or contact a male witness as conditions of his bail.
