A pair of Lancashire Police officers have been charged with perverting the course of justice following an incident in the Thornton-Cleveleys area

The two officers are set to appear in court next week following an Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigation.

The investigation looked at the actions of officers following their attendance at a domestic incident in the Thornton-Cleveleys area in August 2017.

A spokesman for the IOPC said: "Police Constables Jon Kelly, aged 41, and Ellen McLachlan, aged 32, will appear at Bolton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 25 November.

"Our investigation began in February 2018 and was completed in July 2019. At the investigation’s conclusion, we referred a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which made the decision to charge the officers in October 2020."
