POLICE discovered a knife in a man’s pocket after searching him when he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

Blackpool Magistrates’ Court was told Craig Elliot, of Rydal Avenue, Blackpool, was seen by officers holding on to a gate and swaying from side to side.

He had been drinking heavily the court heard when he appeared in the dock.

He was arrested by the police and officers then found he had been carrying a small knife in his pocket when they searched him.

The 29-year-old admitted being drunk and being in possession of a knife in a public place when he appeared before the court yesterday.

His lawyer Steven Townley said the knife had been given to Elliot by an uncle and was really used by him as a key ring.

Elliot was handed a 12 month community order by magistrates.
