A jury has been sworn in for the trial of a Blackpool man who denies murder.

Mark Ball, 24, of Hornby Road, Blackpool, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Marc Davis on October 14 last year.

Mr Davis, 41, of Alexandra Road, was found with stab wounds to his chest and torso at his flat after attending a friend’s party in the early hours of October 14.

A post mortem confirmed he died of his injuries at the scene.

The panel of six men and six women at Preston Crown Court has been told that the case relates to events in and around the Alexandra Road area of the resort on October 13.

The prosecution was due to open its case this morning and the trial is expected to last into next week.
