A man who had served a prison term for arson threatened to tie his girlfriend to a bed and set fire to it.

Carl Marshall stalked his manager girlfriend and bombarded her with hundreds of texts after she ended their relationship.

The prosecution described him as a ‘controlling and abusive person who relentlessly pursued his ex’ and told the court he had also threatened to set her workplace ablaze.

Marshall, a 29-year-old stock manager for a Chinese restaurant, of Palatine Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to harassment between December 22 last year and January 10 this year.

Marshall was refused bail and remanded in custody for a pre-sentence report at a date yet to be decided, by Blackpool magistrates.
