A wife who pummelled her husband with her fists and bit him has been jailed.

A court heard Bridgit Walsh also told her husband: “I’m going to break your jaw and knock lumps out of you.”

She launched her attack in the street, after seeing her husband near an amusement arcade with another woman.

Walsh, 32, of Foxhall Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to assault.

She was sentenced to 20 weeks’ jail by District Judge Jeff Brailsford, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the couple had been married 10 years. Walsh came out of prison on May 16.

On May 18, on Abingdon Street, Walsh repeatedly punched her husband and bit him on the hand, leaving teeth marks.

When interviewed, she said she and her husband had not been able to get the accommodation they planned after she came out of jail.

She said she could not cope with being homeless, and when her husband hassled her she hit and bit him.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said a witness had seen a man standing over Walsh screaming in her face before she punched him.

He said that Walsh’s husband had been causing her various problems and she ‘lost it’.
