Detectives trying to crack the mystery of the body that washed up in Fleetwood have released an image of the man.

Police have taken the unusual step of issuing an Evofit picture of the man’s face as they struggle to identify him.

The body was found washed up on the beach, close to Rossall Point, by a dog walker at around 5.40pm on Monday.

The body was approximately one mile out from land and was recovered with the assistance of the coastguard.

The smartly dressed man is described as being aged between his late 40s and mid-60s and 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall.

He is of medium build, clean shaven with light brown balding hair and he has light blue eyes. Police say he was wearing black clothing with black tracksuit bottoms and black cotton trousers over the top, a blue button up jacket and black lace up shoes.

Det Insp Bev Foster said: “We believe this man was only in the water for a short period of time and we are doing all we can to find out who he is and how he came to be in the water.

“I would ask people to look closely at the Evofit, particularly local hoteliers, and if they think they know or recognise this man then I would urge them to come forward.

“If anybody has any information they think could assist us with our investigation they are asked to contact police on 101.”
