A bare-chested binge drinker was put under citizens arrest after he punched and smashed the wing-mirror of a taxi.

Liam Scott-Weatherby told police he had drunk six or seven double vodkas before the offence and was eight to nine on a scale of drunkenness from one to 10.

Scott-Weatherby, 18, of Poplar Avenue, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to causing damage.

He was sentenced to spend 12 hours at an attendance centre and ordered to pay £40 compensation by Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said the defendant was among a group of males throwing punches at one another on September 27 at 3am.

Door security staff made a citizens arrest on him after he smashed the taxi mirror.

Scott-Weatherby admitted to magistrates that he was a binge drinker and added: “I don’t drink often, but when I do I become violent.”
