A house husband carried out a sustained and violent attack on his girlfriend, a court heard.
Leon Hudson, a 36-year-old father-of-two, of Rossett Avenue, Mereside, pleaded guilty to assault.
He was remanded in custody for pre-sentence reports by Blackpool magistrates.
Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the couple had been together for about 15 years.
Hudson carried out a prolonged assault on his partner on March 23, leaving her injured.
The defendant told police he had been drinking at the time of the offence. He also admitted he had a cannabis problem.
Patrick Nelligan, defending, said his client was deeply remorseful for what he had done. He said Hudson was normally a stay-at-home father.
