A husband lost his temper on a caravan holiday in Blackpool and was described as working himself into a frenzy before punching his wife in the face.

David Jones, a 46-year-old painter, of Mossgate Road, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to assaulting wife.

He was bailed for pre-sentence reports and will be sentenced at a later date by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said the couple arrived at Marton Mere Caravan Park on May 24 at 11.15am and were told their caravan would not be ready until about 4pm.

This put Jones in a bad mood and he started drinking pints.

By 9.30pm he was very drunk. There was a row and Jones’ wife described him as being “in a frenzy.”

Jones admitted pushing his wife, saying he wanted to get her out of his way. He denied punching her.
