Police are hunting a man who allegedly tricked pub landlords into believing he was the brother of comedian Peter Kay.

Telling them he was Danny Kay, the trickster is believed to have offered to put on comedy nights to raise money for the Lewis Mighty Fund – a charity which is fundraising for a boy who died from neuroblastoma last year.

Lancashire Police say landlords handed over cash for the bookings, which never materialised.

The offences were carried out in Derbyshire in the summer of 2009, but police around the country are searching for the fraudster, who they believe could be anywhere.

Officers want to speak to Peter Stead, 50, in connection with the incidents. Anyone who recognises him should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
