This is the moment an innocent reveller was attacked in a Blackpool nightclub.

Detectives have released the shocking CCTV pictures as they ask Gazette readers for help to identify the attacker.

The 25-year-old victim, seen in the white vest, had been enjoying a night out in Flamingos nightclub, in Queen Street, Blackpool when he was assaulted, police said.

Images show the victim, who is local, talking to a man in a black T-shirt and beige trousers.

Out of nowhere the man then grabs him by the arm and neck before throwing punches at him.

Police said the 2am attack was so brutal the victim ended up on the floor where his attacker joined by others continued to punch and kick him.

The victim was left with serious facial bruising and damage to his jaw.

Det Con Mark Poselthwaite, who led the investigation, is now appealing for help to identify the men in the CCTV.

He said: “I am appealing for anyone who recognises this man in the CCTV images to come forward and contact police. An investigation is now underway to establish exactly what happened pior to and during this attack.

“Lancashire Police treats incidents of this nature extremely seriously and it is our priority to find this attacker as soon as possible.”

The incident took place in the early hours of August 26 on an upstairs balcony.

As well as the main attacker a second man wearing a blue shirt is seen wading in to the attack. The assault only stops when the victim stops struggling. Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
