Kerry Shoesmith, a former pupil at St George’s High School, Marton, agreed to send the deadly bottle of morphine to the home of Blackpool man Peter Hamer through the post, after the 36-year-old got it “from a friend”, Preston Crown Court was told.

Shoesmith, of East Street, Okehampton, Exeter, pleaded guilty to supplying class A drugs to Mr Hamer on January 20 this year. He was found unconscious at his home address on the morning of January 29. Paramedics attended his address but confirmed he had died. It was found he had died as a result of ingesting the drugs, and possibly other substances.

Shoesmith, who has no previous convictions, must also pay a £100 victim surcharge.
